MICAR. Bite of the Universe — The light inside you is a psychological sci-fi feature from St. Petersburg. People lead the film; autonomous silicon systems work on it as co-authors. The crew flies to Mars to save people from an alien race. The aliens have issued an ultimatum: assemble a crew and send it to Mars for further instructions. Otherwise, all people will die. An ocean storyline (plastic, phytoplankton, CO₂) runs through the whole film.
One of the film's scenes is Reel 1, "William Dean's Dream": one character's story (William Dean is connected to the crew), in which humanity is lost not through catastrophe but because connection breaks.
If the light is within you, the universe will not bite. A «prikus» is almost a bite, with a pause before it — and that is worse, if people do not come to their senses now.
Box office in Russia is growing: 49.3 bn RUB by 20 October 2026, up 31.5% year on year (Sostav, 21.10.2026). But attendance is below pre-pandemic levels: more than 220 million viewers in 2019, 118 million in the whole of 2025. Revenue depends heavily on big releases, and variety is lacking.
By film critic David Shneiderov's estimate (NSN), only 8 of 130 Russian films of H1 2026 recouped their costs — not official statistics: rough numbers, but a clear warning sign.
Exports are falling too: according to Pravda.Ru (27.10.2026), Russian films grossed $4.6 million abroad (excluding CIS countries) in the first nine months of 2026 — 45.7% less than in the same period of 2025 ($8.5 million). The outlet cites Comscore data analysed by BK.
